From the Pastor

Dear Friends,

UCC Pastor Mac Legerton is organizing support for those most affected by the waters of hurricanes Florence and Michael. Mac lives, and serves, in Robeson County where the devastation is immense. Triangle folks will join a team from UCC National to journey to Lumberton, NC this coming Monday, Oct. 22.  Please let Pastor Jenny or Rev. Doug Long (Umstead Park UCC) know ASAP if you are
interested in going. More info. below:

Mac Legerton explains mildew remediation to Mary Pat Peters on October 10

Though life has returned to normal for most of us, that is not the case for thousands in Eastern NC. This past Sunday, Mac Legerton presented compellingly for partners to join the flood-stricken communities of Lumberton and Robeson County.

While the scope of need is overwhelming, Mac has specifically requested that some folks come next Monday (10/22) to help with two projects... Says Mac, "We had a wonderful mold training tonight (Monday 10/15). I have one house and the AME church that need help next Monday. Both are fairly easy. Both have mold in the ceiling so no crawl space work- just pulling down ceilings and insulation. We could use at least six volunteers, or more if you can recruit them."

If you'd like to be part of a day trip next Monday, let Doug Long know. (doug@upucc.org)

Many thanks.

P.S. Contributions of box fans, extension cords, tarps, wheelbarrows, and cash for mold and
mildew mitigation supplies are on Mac's short list of needs. (We'll be taking a trailer down so have plenty of room for things of this nature you'd like to donate.)
