Be careful about plastic bags, though. If you bring your compost from home in a plastic bag, empty the bag into the compost bin and throw the plastic bag into the landfill bin. If you buy compostable plastic bags, those can go into the compost bin.

| Compostable plastic bags have the word "compostable" on their packaging. Grocery store produce and bagging bags are NOT compostable. |
