Dr. Edith Rasell to speak at Forum, Sun., Feb. 27

Dr. Edith Rasell has accepted an invitation from the CUCC's Economic Justice Task Force to speak at CUCC during the worship service on Sunday, February 27. She is on the national staff of the United Church of Christ serving in Justice and Witness Ministries as Minister for Economic Justice. She works with UCC congregations around the country as well as national and international organizations to bring greater economic justice to people in the US and around the world, especially the poor and marginalized. Dr. Rasell is known for her ability to make economic matters understandable, relevant, and interesting. She is a UCC layperson and holds a PhD in economics. Before coming to the UCC she worked for 12 years at the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), a highly regarded, progressive think tank in Washington, D.C. Order your tickets for "Gen Silent" April 1

Join others from CUCC in viewing "Gen Silent" at the Galaxy Cinema on Friday, April 1 .  The documentary tracks six LGBT seniors as they negotiate the health care system. A must-see for those passionate about eldercare and human rights.  A discussion with the documentarian will follow the showing.  We'll carpool from CUCC - contact Mary Pruneau if you are interested. Register now - ImaginACTion

Registration is now open for the UCC Coalition for LGBT Concerns conference, ImaginACTion, June 27 to 30, Tampa, FL.  A group from CUCC plans to attend the conference and is considering renting a van to drive together.  Early bird registration is $109.00 and there are discounted rates available for the hotel and a meal plan.  Talk to Joan McAllister if you are interested; some scholarship money is available toward the registration costs.  http://www.ucccoalition.org/programs/gathering/ Our own Joan McA is part of the planning team for this year's conference.  You probably heard about last year's San Diego conference from Skip, Steve and Joan who came back transformed and inspired.

Game Night fun for all ages

Need a night of laughter and friendship?  Come to the CUCC Game Night, Saturday, Feb. 26, 7-9pm*. Choose between two card games (Hand-and-Foot and Five Crowns) and bingo (with pictures so all can play).  Don't know how to play?  We'll teach you.  And for those who know canasta, we'll have a table ready for you, too.   Bring a deck of cards (one game requires a deck per person). *If 9pm is past your bedtime, play until you are tired and then head home with a smile.

Our next Earth Sabbath Celebration will be held on Feb. 22 at 7pm at Community UCC in the Fellowship Hall. The theme will be focused upon the element of WATER - another precious gift of God that creats and sustains life. It is a miraculous substance, all to often taken for granted in our affluent society.
