Budget Hearing

(posted at the request of Jim Smith)

Tell your Representatives to Take a Balanced Approach
Dear Together NC Partners,

The House is holding a budget hearing tonight at 7 PM, providing you a chance to ask legislators to take a balanced approach to closing the budget gap. This is also an opportunity to thank them for listening to your concerns last year and raising revenue to offset deep cuts to
critical services. Remind your representatives that revenues should be on the table to offset damaging cuts to services.

We feel that by coming together last year, your organization and the other members of Together NC were better able to convince legislators to take a balanced approach. Please mention your membership in Together NC when making your remarks at the public hearing tonight. Remind legislators that those supporting a balanced approach still stand
together.

In preparing for tonight, consider what is at stake. The House Appropriation Chairs have indicated some damaging cuts may include:
  • Cuts that would slow growth in Medicaid and Health Choice
  • Consolidating More at Four and Smart Start
If you cannot attend in person, use the online form or email to tell your legislators your priorities.

Or provide feedback via email.
