Karen Bearden, a 350.org organizer, asked us to extend these invitations to CUCC folk. Here is her email.
1) One more reminder about the November 16 showing of This Changes Everything in Raleigh at the Regal North Hills movie theatre at 7:30 pm! Order your tickets here!
Many of you have already ordered your tickets. THANK YOU! Even if you aren’t able to attend, can you help spread the word? We’re getting closer to our threshold of tickets that need to be sold--20 more tickets by November 8th--to confirm the showing! Order your tickets here! You’ll find an announcement and flyer below. You can also find the announcement on the 350 Triangle Facebook page that you can share if you’re on Facebook.
I’m delighted the Raging Grannies will be sharing their message with us through song before the movie begins. I’ll speak briefly about the 350 Triangle November 29th NC Virtual Global Climate March. The weekend before the Paris climate talks begin, people from around the world will be coming together, and again on December 12th, the day following the Paris talks. After the inspiring movie we’ll have partner organizations (Liz from Environment NC, Jacquie from NC Sierra, and Nick from NCWARN) share ways in which we can use our empowerment to take action, both locally and globally!
The Chapel Hill showing on November 10 at the Varsity Theatre has sold out of their tickets! Yeah! Hoping we can sell out at the Raleigh showing, too!
Also, check out this fun event happening on Saturday, November 7th in Durham. The U.S. and the world need to move to 100% renewables!! Greenpeace has a great program to get more solar in schools! https://www.facebook.com/events/895768817176893/
2) BBQ For a Solar School!
On Saturday, November 7th the Jordan Solar Team & PTSA are having a “Pig Out for Solar Panels” community fundraiser to support the solar Photovoltaic (PV) array installation at Jordan High School starting at 12:00 PM in the front of the school. There will be information about solar power and our school’s project. Bar B Que sandwiches from “The Pit” will be available for purchase with your donation.
Thanks for any help with spreading the word! Have a nice weekend!
Peace and love for our beautiful Earth, Karen
Monday, November 16, 7:30-9:30 pm, This Changes Everything
Regal North Hills Stadium 14, 4150 Main at North Hills Street, Raleigh
Join 350 Triangle, Environment NC, NC WARN, NC Sierra and others at Raleigh's premiere screening of This Changes Everything, Avi Lewis's feature documentary, inspired by Naomi Klein's book of the same name. Shot over four years in dozens of locations spanning nine countries and five continents, This Changes Everything is an epic attempt to re-imagine the vast challenge of climate change.
The film presents seven powerful portraits of communities on the front lines, from Montana’s Powder River Basin to the Alberta Tar Sands, from the coast of South India to Beijing and beyond. Interwoven with these stories of struggle is Naomi’s narration – her take on the carbon in the air and the economic system that put it there. It builds to her most controversial and exciting idea: that we can seize the existential crisis of climate change to transform our failed economic system into something radically better.
****We’re using TUGG, a new online distribution company to do this showing. We need to sell at least 20 more tickets by November 8th to be able to show the film, so please spread the word and RSVP today!!! https://www.tugg.com/events/69874 Your card won’t be charged until the minimum tickets are sold.
