Over the past two years, the Memorial Meditation Garden team has been working to make this beautiful area even more visible and accessible. To date, a new gutter has been installed, as well as an additional downspout and dry well system, to reduce the chance of erosion. In the sanctuary, a new glass door replaced an old wooden one to visually tie the sanctuary to the garden.
The last item on the team’s “to do” list is to install a paved walkway that will make the garden easier to access for people with different levels of mobility. The cost for a walkway like the one pictured below is $7,500. To raise those funds, the congregation is invited to donate one or more of the pavers at a cost of $100 each. The pavers can be engraved with up to three lines of type – a way to remember a loved one, give thanks for a special occasion or memorialize a favorite Bible verse. Smaller donations are also very welcome.
Paver donation sheets will be available in the narthex beginning September 22 or print one here. If you have questions about the pathway, please contact Merrilee Jacobson at 919-274-4539 or mkjacobson123@gmail.com.
