Life & Faith in Raleigh

This ever-changing group of CUCCers and friends meets on  first Tuesdays  to bounce ideas, support and challenge each other, and enjoy good company.  Jane Smith brings an open-ended question connecting the nitty-gritty of life and faith, but prefers when members of the group raise a question they'd like to discuss. Discussion starts at 7:00pm, so arrive by 6:30 if you want to order food. We try to model God's generosity by tipping well, whether we order water or a full meal. The discussion wraps up at 8:00pm. We meet at O’Malley’s Pub and Restaurant , 5228 Hollyridge Dr, Raleigh. New folks and friends are always welcome.  Come when you can, or come often.  Look for the comma in the vase on our table. What is said at Life & Faith stays at Life & Faith!  We seek to be a safe place for one another. January 2 Topic: This month's topic comes from a real-life situation:  A group of fascists placed intimidating flyers on a college campus; campus offi...

Young adult Christmas lunch

Can you guess who is the engineer, the nurse, the exercise physiologist, the architect, and the youth leader? Five of us enjoyed a pizza lunch and reunion today. There was great energy and every good report of busy lives, rapid growth, extensive learning, and fascinating work. Nice to see these young souls enjoying life with such care and intention! We missed all who were away and couldn't join us.

In Memory of Jerri Hayward Ball

http://lancasterfcs.com/book- of-memories/3378622/Ball- Jerri/obituary.php Jerri Hayward Ball, 87, of Franklinton, died on December 20, 2017 at his home. Born in Franklin County to the late George Hayward and Ruby Pearce Ball, Jerri graduated from Edward Best High School and then briefly served in the Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Jones in 1949, and his in-laws took him into the family proudly and lovingly. He had three daughters who were a source of great joy and pride to him.  Jerri loved his cats and dogs, and your memorial donations to SAFE Haven for Cats ( 8431-137 Garvey Drive, Raleigh, NC 27616 ) , in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated. And in recognition of the special help they provided him and Carolyn, who lost everything to a fire right before their wedding, your donations to the American Red Cross – Triangle Area Chapter ( 100 N. Peartree Lane, Raleigh, NC 27610 ) would also mean a lot to Carolyn. Please keep Cynthia and her family in your...

Christmas Eve 5:00pm Service - Lessons @ Carols

History of A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols      Our Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was first held on Christmas Eve 1918. It was planned by Eric Milner-White, who at the age of thirty-four had just been appointed Dean of King’s after experience as an army chaplain which had convinced him that the Church of England needed more imaginative worship. (He devised our Advent Carol Service in 1934, and was a liturgical pioneer and authority during his twenty two years as Dean of York.) The music was then directed by Arthur Henry Mann, Organist 1876–1929. The choir included sixteen trebles as laid down in King Henry VI’s statutes, but until 1927 the men’s voices were provided partly by Choral Scholars and partly by older Lay Clerks, and not, as now, by fourteen undergraduates.                                 ...
