Life and Faith in Downtown Raleigh is a gathering of whoever comes. Anyone can bring up a question springing from the intersection of life and faith. Whether you come once or decide to be a regular, you are welcome! Bring a friend. We meet at Tyler's Tap Room at Seaboard Station. Each person pays for his or her own beverage or food. Jane Smith convenes the discussion after a bit of "How've you been?" catch up. If no one brings a question, Jane has a default question for the night. Default question for Feb. 10: "I took a look at the lectionary readings for the 10th. I’m intrigued by the Acts 15 passage. The question I’d like to ask each of you: How do you know when something “outside the lines” of tradition (traditional doctrine or practice for THE CHURCH or for CUCC) is consistent with being a follower of Christ? Even if it seems okay, how do you know if it is a good choice for you/our congregation? Do you have tests that you use? Or practices of discernment? This seems like a relevant question for CUCC in this time of transition. Peg (and whoever comes after her) will likely be challenging us to try new things and think new thoughts. How will we know if they are the way forward - either okay in general or, specifically, a good fit for us? I’d love to hear your wisdom on this." Look for the red comma.
Nursery Childcare for Sunday Worship Service
CUCC is recruiting individuals to work in the nursery on a paid basis during church on Sundays. The number of interested persons will determine the frequency of the Sundays we need you. If interested, please contact the church office at office.cucc@gmail.com or 919-787-6422.
No Youth Church School or Youth Group Sunday
1st Sunday of the month: No Youth Church School or Youth Group. Enjoy worship with your families! Youth, if you are at church and are willing, our new Interim Pastor would appreciate help moving boxes in to her office after worship. Thank you!

As we enter our interim period, Forum is also entering an interim period. On the first two Sundays in February, February 1st and February 8th, in preparation for the HKonJ march on Saturday, February 14, we will show in two parts (via Youtube) the October 5, 2014, sermon of Rev. William Barber II at Judson Memorial Church. After each showing there will be time for discussion of what he says and of the issues which this year’s HK on J march will address. Please come and discuss!

After the HKonJ March on Saturday, February 14, please come and have lunch at Jersey Mike’s 2712 Hillsborough Street (between Brooks & Gardner) where this year, a portion of all purchases will help to support BYC (summer church camp) for our youth.

Join the 9th Annual Mass Mobilization!
A fusion movement has been growing in North Carolina for the past nine years and now includes over 150 coalition partners. This year the movement will come together on Saturday, February 14, to hold lawmakers accountable to the people of North Carolina.
Movement Agenda: Labor Rights; Education Equality; Health Care for All; Women’s Health; Environmental Justice; Medicaid Expansion; Equal Protection Under the Law; Justice without Regard to Race, Creed, Class, Gender, Sexual Orientation or Immigration Status; Voting Rights for All; Criminal Justice and Police Reform.
Pre-rally begins at 9:00am - corner of Wilmington and South Street near Shaw Univ. March begins at 10:00 am. We’ll march from Wilmington & South Street to the Rally location on Fayetteville Street across from the State Capitol Building.
CUCC Participants: Meet in front of McDonald's Restaurant on South Street across from Shaw University at 9:00am. Look for Mike and Elizabeth Soboeiro who will have the CUCC banner.
Carpooling: If anyone would like to carpool, meet at the CUCC Dixie Trail lot at 8:30am.
