March 17: One hour of action for all ages

*
One short, silly play starring two bacteria
Three action-based workshops (you pick two)

March 17, 12:15-1:15
Compost and Reuse Action Event at CUCC
Curtain goes up at 12:15 in the fellowship hall

The play:  Ani and Aeri Go to Dinner.  Think of this as a slightly longer Children’s Blessing with audience participation and opportunities to ham it up.  Together we will learn why composting is better than landfilling in preventing climate change.

Choose two of three 20 minute workshops.

  • Less for the Landfill - Wish you didn’t throw out so many things?  Mike Schafale and Tena Hand will bring some of the re-usable items they use as well as hints that work in a busy life.  There will be things to pass around and, if you are interested, a few items we can buy in bulk. Participants (children and adults) can share their ideas from school, home and work.
  • Be a Compost Host - Learn from Gary Smith how you can take a turn serving as our Sunday morning Compost Host.  You will help people new to CUCC understand what goes in the three fellowship cans, review and empty the cans after fellowship, and set up for next week.  If we don’t have properly sorted compost, our composting company will fine us, so this is important work your family can do.  This workshop will be a “walk-around” session.  A good family service project.
  • Composting from Home - This is the most “sit and talk” of the 3 workshops.  Maria Mayorga will tell you what you need to know to start bringing food scraps from home to CUCC’s industrial compost bin.  Even if you compost at home (thank you!), you need a place to bring your bones and cheesy pizza boxes.

For our youngest children, childcare is available throughout the hour-long event.
