With deep gratitude for her ministry among us, and with sadness for all who loved and will miss her, we announce the death of our beloved former pastor, the Rev. Cally Rogers-Witte. Cally served as Pastor at CUCC from 1977-1995. If you wish to contact the family, the church office has their addresses. The service of remembrance planned by the family will be Saturday, December 21, 10AM, at St. Mark Episcopal Church (Cocoa, FL).
The obituary written by her family
The United Church of Christ celebration of her life and work
Here is a letter from her family to all who love her.
Dearest family and friends,
I write this to share difficult news. Our dear beloved Cally peacefully left us today, surrounded by many of her family members, on an incredibly clear and beautiful day here in Rockledge, Florida.
This last week in the intensive care unit has been a roller coaster. We were all holding on to small signs of hope and progress that her organs would eventually recover. Though after several days of worsening, the doctors shared the news yesterday that in order to keep her alive for any longer, her quality of life would be extremely compromised as her organs simply wouldn't be able to function on their own. I flew back to FL from Virginia early this morning and arrived at the hospital to our army of love and support... friends and dear family members. We said our goodbyes and dad, Mary Ann and I were there as the medical team took her off of life support. It was a very peaceful process and we truly feel mom's/Cally's spirit in our hearts and in the world around us.
I am so sad for all of us and all of you, while also incredibly grateful for her 74 truly amazing and amazingly well-lived years on earth. Cally moved mountains and loved all of us and so many more with her whole being. We will lean on each other for support and we appreciate your love. We will share more information about her memorial service in the next days and weeks as the planning unfolds (likely some point in December). I don't know just yet the best ways to help out, though I will share some thoughts or ideas in a few days. In the meantime, please do share your Cally memories with each other and with us in any way you'd like. Our memories are so precious.
With love and gratitude for all of you,
Beth, Frank & Mary Ann
