With thanks to God the congregation has called Reverend Lacey Renee Brown to be our senior pastor.
Pastor Lacey has returned to her congregation (Central Congregational UCC) for a few months to be with them as they move into their pastoral transition. We will continue to pray for Pastor Lacey, for Jordyne, and for Central Congregational UCC in this time of farewells and possibilities. Pastor Lacey's first day at CUCC will be May 5, and her first Sunday with us May 10.
Reverend Lacey Renee Brown grew up in Ft. Myers, Florida, where she frolicked on the beach and played with starfish. As a child, she loved the sun and waves. One summer while lobstering in the Florida Keys with her family, she met a mermaid who told her that she would one day become a pastor. Lacey has one older brother, Matt, who she can still beat in Mario Cart. Matt is married to Molly, and their daughter, Lil, is hoping to make the cheerleading squad this year.
Pastor Lacey attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in religion and philosophy. A short while later, she felt called to ministry and decided to pursue a Master ofDivinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. After securing her M.Div. in 2012, she was hired by Central Congregational UCC of Atlanta, Georgia, to serve as a youth minister. over the past seven years, Pastor Lacey remained at Central, where she was later promoted to the roles of associate pastor and acting senior minister.
When she's not thinking about church, Pastor Lacey enjoys hanging out with friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, running and reading fiction. She loves Dairy Queen blizzards and she detests free and clear laundry detergent. Why doesn't everyone want their clothes to smell good? Once you get to know Lacey, you'll find she's passionate about Jesus and coffee. she is a southerner through and through, never having lived further north than Georgia One important thing to know is you will never get her to line dance at a hoedown. Unfortunately, she has no rhythm and admittedly has a difficult time clapping on beat.
Her partner of 8 years, Jordyne Krumroy, accompanies Pastor Lacey on this candidating weekend. A native of Greensboro, she is very excited about relocating to Raleigh with Lacey. Jordyne loves dogs and is actively campaigning for a second dog. Or a third. Or a fourth. Or a fifth? She has almost achieved success. Lacey is so close to caving in. Along with her passion for animals, she is actively involved in immigration reform through her work with Welcoming America. ¿Habla español? You will find Jordyne to be very approachable, smart, passionate and funny. She also takes really good care of Lacey.
They are excited about the prospect of becoming part of the CUCC community, and they hope to soon learn much, much more in coming months about the humble and inspiring individuals that make up the body of our congregation. We are thankful to have them with us today!
