This Week's Happenings - Prism Community

Greetings in Christ!

Once again, we are nearing the time of year in which we make an extra effort to show our appreciation to God and to each other for the tremendous blessings and provision in our lives. Thanksgiving is such a blessed holiday.

Perhaps there’s a time in your life you can think back to when things were a bit of a challenge financially. You wondered where the money for the next meal was going to come from, or quite possibly gas money was in short supply because of the need to use it for the more pressing need of food for your family.  Sunday, I would like to ask you to please consider bringing a canned good as part of your offerings to God.  We will put our canned goods under the Nancy Jo Photography tree to give to the food pantry.

I am thankful for each of you.  Please know that. You each have brought me joy personally and have brought the Church gifts and bring all people unconditional love. Thank you.

Please do not forget to put your blessings (things you are thankful for) on a slip of paper then inside that canned Turkey that Amy and the youth made last week. Please do this before worship Sunday.

As we move forward in ministry together, let us hold fast to knowing we are a church without walls.  This space matters not but our hearts and relationships matter tremendously.  Wherever God leads us, let us show each other and the world our hearts and hands!  Visit someone who doesn’t get visitors much, share a helping hand when someone is struggling to put their bags in their car…. come caroling with us. (See calendar) Give a random act of kindness. But then again, I am preaching to the choir.

I would ask you too, that you please be in prayer for me also-- as CUCC considers “calling me to be ordained” for our ministry. I am now licensed, and ordination is similar but for life vs annually.   If approved by the congregation, I will go before the association / conference counsel of church and ministry (a large group of ordained ministers) and be questioned and have my final paper questioned and reviewed etc.

God Bless each of you.  I hope to see you in Church on Sunday. The sermon will better define for us progressive Christianity and what we in the UCC believe! You don’t want to miss it!!!!  Oh! And this Friday- Theology on Tap- East Coast Wings 5:30pm.

"Forgive-Forget…. let’s talk about it."

Also, the dates to work on the Christmas parade float will be sent out by Avery or Eric soon and a few Advent books are here and free to anyone who will commit to reading the devotions and coming to the few Advent discussions we have.

Peace and love,

Pastor Joy
