CUCC's Do Justice Ministry urges you to take a few moments to email members of the NC General Assembly, encouraging them to make sure elections are held in November and that mail-in ballots are a strong a possibility. NC House Representative and CUCC member Cynthia Ball spoke with the Do Justice Ministry about this and encouraged members to take this on as a high priority.
The committee considering how to handle elections and proposing a pandemic relief funding package (covers many needs) is the Continuity of State Operations (Emergency Services, Elections, & Public Safety) Working Group.
The Brennan Center offers a detailed plan on how to ensure that COVID-19 does not prevent fair and free elections.
An important part of your message would be that resources (financial, personnel) be provided to fund measures taken to adapt our elections process for the pandemic. The pandemic relief packages being considered by the NC General Assembly must include these resources.
Focus your letter writing on the chairs and members of the committee. Their email addresses are below. If you want, you can learn more about each of them here: NC House website.
