Intern Program at Loaves &
Fishes Begins
For the third
year, CUCC is conducting a program at Loaves and Fishes for
middle school students who want to learn about getting and keeping a job.
Classes meet twice a week in the afternoon for five weeks. Students learn how
to look for a job, how to fill out an application, write a resume, dress for
success, set up and participate in an interview, as well as a number of other
things. If the students successfully complete the course, they will be eligible
to obtain a position at LAF during the summer school program. A donation from
our church helps defray the cost of the course and the salaries that are paid
to the graduates. A number of past graduates of the program have achieved
success in obtaining jobs based on what they have learned in the course.
Leadership for the classes has been provided by members of the Economic Justice
Task. Susan Lane, who is teaching the course, would love to have a volunteer
work with her to see how the classes are run. If you are interested, please
contact Susan at lane.susan70@gmail.com, or 919-417-9334.
