Meet Merrilee Jacobson and others from CUCC at this showing of the New York Film Festival’s award-winning documentary, “13th.” It will be shown at Highland United Methodist Church, 1901 Ridge Rd., on Tuesday, July 16 at 6:30pm. Refreshments will be served.
The film, by director Ava DuVernay, takes an unflinching look at the 13th Amendment and tracks the creation of America's subsequently racially unjust system of incarceration. Surena Johnson, Coalition Coordinator, Raleigh PACT, will speak after the film.
The event is free, but a love offering will be accepted for the speaker.
This showing is part of Campaign Nonviolence (CNV), which meets at CUCC each month. The series of summer events culminates in the vigil at CUCC on Sept. 19.
For more information, please contact Merrilee Jacobson at 919-274-4539.
