What initiatives should CUCC's Justice in a Changing Climate task force (JCC) undertake this fall? If any of these ideas interest you, or if you have an idea to propose, come to the dinner meeting Friday, August 9, 6:30PM at Gary and Jane Smith's home. Please RSVP so they make enough food and to get directions to their home. smithgk@mindspring.com Anyone at CUCC is welcome; you do not have to be a member.
Topics for discussion
Composting: Where are we with composting? Do we expand to bathrooms and/or add more emphasis on people bringing compost from home?
GOTV of CUCC's members: Who wants to be on the team to remind CUCC's voters to vote in municipal elections this fall?
Note: Earlier this summer, many members of CUCC pledged to vote this fall and we promised to remind them. If environmental voters turn out to vote, they influence platforms and change elections. We don't need to tell them how to vote - just remind them to vote. In 2016, only 65% of CUCC's eligible voters voted.
Carbon offsets: Shall we promote carbon offsets? Is this a way we can honor our commitment to address the impact of climate change on those with the fewest resources to adapt?
Note: Blessed Tomorrow carbon offsets directly benefit those of low wealth impacted by climate change.
Other ideas from people who have energy to work on them: Are there other initiatives we want to start or work on this fall?
Force multipliers: Should we be part of the “Do Justice” Ministry?
Note: CUCC's Social Justice Ministry and Economic Justice Task Force are combining efforts to multiply their impact and better use resources. They have invited JCC to join, too. Shall we?
Widening the circle: How do we invite others to be part of the JCC?
