· 86% of jail inmates are not convicted.
· It costs ~ $82/day to stay in jail.
· The amount of cash money-Bail (paid to bail agents) increased from 24% in 1990 to 49%% IN 2009.
· The conviction rates of those who could pay the cash money-Bail was only 50% compared to 90% for those who could not make bail.
· Persons who cannot make Bail are 4 times more likely to receive jail time.
· The bail set for African Americans exceeds that set for whites by 35% and Latinos by 19%.
· The political contributions made by Bail Industry in NC between 2002 and 2016 exceeded $350,000
