Save the date: Cellist to perform at CUCC, August 8

One Cello, One Planet
Thursday, August 8, 7PM

Cellist Judith Glixon will be bringing "One Cello, One Planet" to CUCC, blending music and imagery to raise awareness about climate change and creation care.  Glixon, currently of Boston, was the principal cellist with the Asheville Symphony and the Brevard Chamber Orchestra.  This one-hour solo-cello concert about the urgency of climate change includes the music of J. S. Bach (Unaccompanied Suites #2 & 3), Benjamin Britten (final movement of Suite for Cello, Op.72), Maurice Ravel and a recent composition by Daniel Crawford and takes listeners through an abridged history of the human race (with an emphasis on Western civilization) from its beginning until today.  Glixon graciously offered that local environmental coalitions could use the event as a fundraiser; a donation will be requested.

CUCC's Justice in a Changing Climate Task Force is co-sponsoring the Raleigh event with NC Interfaith Power + Light and Interfaith Creation Care Triangle; we are a member of both coalitions.  For more information contact Gary Smith smithgk@mindspring.com.

We are honored to host Ms. Glixon and this performance.
