What features are necessary for you to want to take Raleigh’s NEW rapid bus line?

Your input is needed.

The City of Raleigh has committed to installing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines on major transportation corridors.  What features would need to be included to make riding the bus something you would do sometimes?

Decisions made on the first route will set a precedent for other routes which may be nearer you and CUCC. The BRT project will begin with a route along New Bern Avenue (downtown to WakeMed and beyond).  As a church committed to economic justice and to reducing our carbon footprint, having a usable bus system that we would use and that works for others is part of our ministry.

Here’s how you can participate now from the comfort of your home.
  • Watch (at a time of your convenience before November 30) the Virtual Open House (two videos on Station Design and Branding each under 5 minutes).  This virtual open house is focused on the design of the bus stations and on branding.  As you watch, think about features you would need - ex.  ease of getting onto the bus from the platform, design that makes you want to stand there waiting in all weathers, signage, etc.  Also think about design that is both useful and something that would make you proud to call Raleigh home.
  • Take the survey:  The design survey is the focus, but you are welcome to take the others.
  • Share this article on your social media or by email with friends so they can advocate for what they need. Copy the url for our article and post it along with your message.
  • If you volunteer for a nonprofit that serves people, make sure that agency knows about the survey so their clients can participate.
